How Politically Correct Art Is Leading To The Age Of Didacticism

We used to have best-selling poets, mind you. But as Mark Naida points out in The Federalist, for the past 50 years, poetry “has been largely confined to university English departments.” Yet Kaur has managed to become famous by posting her work on Instagram, accompanied by simple hand-drawn illustrations. The only problem? They’re not really poetry.

.

Although her book may lead readers to read real poetry for the first time since high school, she is not really making poetry herself. She uses neither images, nor poetic devices, nor characters. She presents vacuous statements that invite readers to insert themselves. Her writing is meant to be so relatable that it becomes meaningless.

Blanc shows kindness to others

“She is extremely helpful with other students, especially those who are struggling, to the point that she is almost like having a second teacher in the room,” Rowland said. “She always seeks to look out for others and genuinely cares for their well-being as their friend.”

He feels fortunate to not just have her in his class for one year but two.

Blanc’s advice to other middle and high school students is, “don’t be afraid to be different.”

“People may laugh at you, and I know from experience that people are going to laugh at you, but you have to stick with what you know and what your parents have taught you and what God has shown you,” she said. “Stick to what you know and be different.”
Her other passion is singing. She has performed in school talent shows and at church. She hopes to sing in the Sunday morning praise team at Grace Heartland Church when she’s older.
“It’s really the thought of expressing how you are feeling in words through music,” she said.

Boulder High teacher — with help from alumni — looks to revive school's Owl newspaper

Boulder High language arts teacher Jonathan Wright is talking up the value of high school newspapers in an effort to recruit enough students to resurrect the school's long-running student publication.
He needs about 25 students to sign up when registration starts next month after receiving approval from the language arts department and Boulder High's principal to bring back The Owl.
"Now it goes to the will of the students," he said.
The Owl went online-only in 2010 because of budget cuts, low enrollment and not enough revenue from ads, and the newspaper class was combined with yearbook. By 2014, with only one student signed up for the newspaper side of the class, The Owl disappeared altogether.
An Owl alum, Steve Knopper, heard that the paper no longer was operating and talked to Wright and the former adviser, Jeff Likes, about how to bring it back. Likes is retiring at the end of the school year.
